The litigation centers on statements made during the company's Q1 2026 earnings call, where management touted 19.5% growth in student starts and raised full-year guidance. Shareholders acted on these optimistic projections, driving the stock price up 10.6% on May 11. However, the narrative shifted abruptly on August 10, when Lincoln Educational revealed that student starts had stalled at just 1% for the second quarter.
This discrepancy wiped out more than $300 million in market capitalization, prompting the firm Hagens Berman to initiate an investigation into potential securities law violations. Reed Kathrein, the partner leading the firm's efforts, stated the investigation is scrutinizing whether the company intentionally misled the market about its enrollment metrics. Investors who acquired LINC securities between May 11 and August 9, 2026, have until November 10, 2026, to file as lead plaintiffs.
