Saudi Tourism Authority and Wego Target MENA Travelers

From the neon-lit streets of Riyadh to the ancient, wind-swept sandstone of AlUla, the Saudi Tourism Authority and travel platform Wego have launched a joint campaign designed to reshape how MENA travelers perceive the Kingdom, shifting the focus toward personalized, multi-faceted itineraries that span a year-round calendar of events.

The initiative leverages Wego’s massive regional reach to showcase a destination that is no longer just a singular stop, but a collection of distinct experiences. By highlighting a spectrum of activities—ranging from high-end shopping and coastal wellness retreats to deep-desert adventure and Red Sea diving—the partners aim to move beyond traditional tourism tropes. The strategy focuses on allowing visitors to curate journeys that align specifically with their personal interests rather than following a rigid, predefined path.

Mamoun Hmidan, Chief Business Officer at Wego, noted that the Kingdom is uniquely positioned to capture this demand because of its ability to blend culture, entertainment, and nature in one trip. The campaign arrives as Saudi expands its seasonal offerings, including the ongoing Gulf Cup 27 in Jeddah and a robust schedule of winter festivals across Diriyah and the Eastern Province. By integrating destination-led editorial content directly into the travel-planning process, the partnership seeks to convert regional curiosity into actual bookings, simplifying the logistics for both first-time visitors and those returning for deeper exploration.
