The brand, founded in 1997 by Trey and Chet Zoeller, has long prioritized unconventional maturation techniques, such as aging bourbon at sea. This latest pivot aims to unify the portfolio under a more cohesive design language while providing consumers with greater transparency regarding the age and proof of its core offerings. The updated Jefferson’s Reserve is now bottled at 96 proof, a change Master Blender Ale Ochoa says was driven by a deliberate selection of older, more mature barrels to enhance depth.
Beyond the Reserve upgrade, the Jefferson’s Very Small Batch has been adjusted to 88 proof to increase its versatility in cocktails. These refreshed 750ml bottles are currently reaching retail shelves and hospitality venues nationwide, with additional volume formats scheduled for release later this year. The portfolio remains anchored by its flagship offerings, including the Triple-Rye and the distinctive Ocean Aged at Sea series, all reflecting the brand’s intent to balance its 1799 family legacy with modern, curiosity-driven production methods.
