Generate Capital Divests Global Anaerobic Digestion Platform Upcycle

Pinta Energy, a UK-based platform backed by Asterion Industrial Partners, has secured the seven UK facilities formerly under the Upcycle banner. Simultaneously, Vanguard Renewables—a US environmental services firm owned by BlackRock’s Global Infrastructure Partners—has entered an agreement to acquire the remaining five sites located in Ontario, Canada, and upstate New York. The transactions are scheduled to close on October 1, 2026.

Upcycle established itself as a significant player in the renewable natural gas market, processing over 871,000 tons of food and agricultural waste in 2025 alone. The platform’s operations generated more than 365,000 MWh of renewable energy, effectively displacing greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to removing roughly 132,552 passenger vehicles from the road. For Generate Capital, which has nurtured these assets since 2016, the sale provides liquidity to reinvest in its core mission of delivering reliable energy solutions to large-scale data centers and industrial users.
