Sensorium Therapeutics Reports Early Success in Anxiety Drug Trial

Sensorium Therapeutics has reported positive Phase 1a results for SNTX-2643, an experimental serotonin transporter modulator designed for social and generalized anxiety disorders. Data presented at the Psych Congress 2026 indicate the drug produced measurable central nervous system activity in healthy volunteers while maintaining a favorable safety profile.

The study, which enrolled 63 healthy adults, focused on evaluating the safety and pharmacodynamic effects of the drug. A key cohort of 25 participants showed that a single 3 mg dose of SNTX-2643 successfully attenuated brain responses to induced psychological stress. These effects remained detectable 24 hours after administration, even as plasma concentrations declined, suggesting a potential for durability beyond peak exposure.

Researchers utilized quantitative electroencephalography (qEEG) to track brain activity. Participants receiving the drug exhibited shifts in cortical activity patterns, specifically increased beta and reduced delta activity, which investigators noted were more consistent with alertness than sedation. Furthermore, the drug appeared to dampen the brain's high-frequency signal response during an aversive-video stress challenge. Dr. Cole Brown, Chief Medical Officer at Sensorium, highlighted the consistency across independent readouts as a promising indicator for the drug's translational potential. While these exploratory findings do not establish clinical efficacy for anxiety disorders, the company plans to move forward with higher doses in future evaluations to determine if these physiological markers translate into tangible benefits for patients.
