Marriott and Sotheby’s Expand Rare Collectibles Series to Asia Pacific

Luxury Group by Marriott International and Sotheby’s are deepening their global partnership by launching "The Art of Knowing" masterclass series across Asia Pacific. The initiative combines high-end hospitality with expert-led sessions on rare jewelry, fine wines, and horology, targeting collectors through both digital content and exclusive in-person events.

The collaboration leverages Sotheby’s long-standing authority in fine art and luxury assets alongside Marriott’s network of premium hotels. According to Bart Buiring, Managing Director of Luxury for Greater China at Marriott International, the program aims to provide guests with meaningful access to the narratives behind rare objects. The series debuted with a digital component featuring Sotheby’s specialists Vanessa Wat, George Lacey, and Jane Ki, who distill professional collector insights into concise, one-minute lessons.

Beyond the screen, the partnership manifests in intimate, location-specific events. The program launched September 14 at The St. Regis Hong Kong with a focus on high-end handbags, followed by an upcoming October 2 watch-collecting masterclass at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong. These sessions integrate culinary artistry, featuring a four-hands menu prepared by Michelin-starred teams from L'Envol and Tosca di Angelo. The tour continues on October 15 at The St. Regis Shenzhen Bao'an, where the focus will shift to fine wine. These events underscore a shift toward experiential luxury, where service is defined by specialized knowledge and direct engagement with rare items.
