The weekend launch mirrors the success of the exchange's 1-Ounce Gold futures, which transitioned to 24/7 trading on July 24. Since that expansion, gold contracts have seen more than 140,000 trades, representing $600 million in notional value. Jin Hennig, Managing Director and Global Head of Metals, noted that the data confirms a shift in how participants manage investment exposure and supply risk, with retail clients favoring the exchange's smaller, right-sized contract offerings.
These 100-Ounce Silver futures, introduced in February 2026, are financially settled against the benchmark COMEX 5,000-Ounce Silver futures. The move to a continuous trading model arrives as CME Group experiences a surge in metals activity, with daily volume across its metals business climbing 55% year-on-year during the first half of 2026. This period saw an average of 1.3 million contracts traded daily, anchored by significant liquidity in silver markets.
