The merger brings together two regional players to create one of the largest independent elevator service providers in the United States. While the new brand will oversee the portfolio, both Action Elevator and All City Elevator will retain their local identities. This structure aligns with H.I.G. Capital’s strategy of building scaled, multi-regional platforms through both organic growth and strategic acquisitions.
Industry veteran Christopher J. Smith has been appointed CEO of the new group. Smith, who previously served as Executive Chairman of Action Elevator, brings decades of experience from major industry players like Otis Worldwide and Schindler Elevator. He replaces Action Elevator founder John Marshall, Sr., who will transition into the role of Executive Chairman to support the firm's expansion. The platform will continue to prioritize non-proprietary equipment, a model the firm argues grants building owners greater autonomy over long-term maintenance costs and repair timelines.
