Keio Plaza Hotel Launches Seasonal Japanese Craft Workshops

Between September and December 2026, the Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo is hosting a series of hands-on cultural workshops in its third-floor lobby. The "Journey into Japan" program invites international travelers to engage with local traditions, ranging from seasonal flower arranging to the creation of intricate tsumami-zaiku ornamental hairpins.

The hotel, situated in the heart of Tokyo’s central business district, designed this initiative to cater to its predominantly international clientele. By offering a "drop-in-anytime" format, the workshops allow guests to participate without prior reservations, turning idle hours into an opportunity to learn traditional crafts. Participants work directly with Japanese artists to produce items that serve as personalized souvenirs, such as calligraphy-adorned pieces or handcrafted accessories.

These sessions draw heavily on the concept of nature-inspired artistry, reflecting the shifting seasons and Japanese cultural history. Past attendees have cited the convenience of the hotel-based location and the ability to bring home authentic, handmade items as highlights of their stay. The program remains a central part of the hotel's strategy to deepen the connection between visiting tourists and the nuanced arts of their host country, providing a tangible way for guests to carry a piece of their experience back home.
