The company marked the achievement with internal celebrations, highlighting the dedication required to manage such high-volume logistics. While this figure represents a major performance peak for the retailer, it remains behind the UK market leader, Tesco, which handles more than 1.2 million online grocery orders per week.
Beyond its domestic success, Ocado Group is aggressively expanding its international footprint. The company recently launched its first automated customer fulfilment centre in South Korea in partnership with Lotte Shopping. Located in Busan, the facility leverages Ocado's proprietary 'hive and bot' automation and introduces a fully automated freezer system capable of operating at -25° C. The site is designed to support dawn deliveries and relies on a 100% electric vehicle fleet, aiming to reduce annual carbon emissions by over 1,000 tonnes through solar integration and energy-efficient robotics.
