Bedrock and FMS Launch Autonomous Subsea Hub in Aberdeen

The multi-year agreement transforms the FMS base into an operational hub for Bedrock’s subsea technology. Instead of shipping equipment across the Atlantic, FMS personnel will undergo specialized training to manage, maintain, and deploy the autonomous vehicles locally. This integration combines Bedrock’s intelligence stack with the established regional logistics and survey expertise that FMS has cultivated since 2009.

For offshore energy operators, the collaboration promises a vertically integrated service that moves from data acquisition to actionable insights in hours rather than weeks. Matthew Tirman, CEO of Bedrock, noted that the move is designed to provide cost-effective, high-speed data delivery in the demanding environments of the North Sea. Steven Brown, CEO of First Marine Solutions, emphasized that housing the systems in Aberdeen provides the flexibility required to differentiate their services in a competitive market. As the OECD projects the ocean economy to quadruple by 2050, the partnership signals a wider industry shift toward digitizing subsea infrastructure and adopting automated intelligence to support long-term maritime growth.
