Under the current model, Olio’s volunteer network steps in during late evening hours to collect items that local charities are unable to retrieve. This ensures surplus stock reaches families, community groups, and local shelters rather than being discarded.

Georgina Hall, Director of Corporate Affairs at Lidl GB, noted that the initiative relies on a community-driven effort involving store teams, charity partners, and dedicated volunteers to bridge the gap in food security for vulnerable households.
