City National Bank is currently suing Federline for $117,704.77 across three accounts, including a credit card and a personal line of credit. Court documents show the dancer opened these accounts in December 2024, shortly after his final child support payment from Spears concluded under California law. The bank reports that Federline failed to make payments after May 2025, leading to the current litigation.
Sources close to the singer suggest she perceives his predicament as definitive proof that his previous reliance on her was never about co-parenting, but rather about access to her wealth. The tension between the pair reached a new peak following the October 2025 release of Federline’s memoir, You Thought You Knew. In the book, he leveled serious accusations against Spears, including claims of substance use and erratic behavior, which she publicly dismissed as "white lies" and exhausting gaslighting. Spears has long maintained that Federline intentionally sabotaged her relationship with their sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, while utilizing her income as a primary support system.
