Morrisons deploys Everseen computer vision to speed up self-checkouts

Morrisons is integrating Everseen’s Evercheck platform into 200 of its UK stores, marking a significant push to streamline the self-checkout process. The technology uses real-time computer vision to help shoppers correct missed items on the spot, aiming to reduce queue congestion while freeing up staff for customer-facing duties.

The roll-out follows a successful trial phase, positioning the software as a bridge between automated efficiency and human oversight. By embedding AI directly into the checkout interface, Morrisons intends to minimize friction during the payment process. Francesca Bezoari, Store Support Office Director at Morrisons, noted that the partnership allows the retailer to maintain a fast, seamless experience without sacrificing the service standards for which the brand is recognized.

Joe White, CEO at Everseen, emphasized that the deployment proves operational performance and customer satisfaction can function as complementary priorities rather than competing interests. The platform is designed to integrate into existing store infrastructure, allowing the retailer to leverage its global experience in checkout automation to support a broader digital transformation across its estate.
