Pittsburgh Robotics & AI Discovery Day Adds Defense Pavilion for 2026

A strategic partnership between the Pittsburgh Robotics Network and the Pittsburgh Technology Council will debut a new Defense Pavilion at this year's Robotics & AI Discovery Day. Scheduled for September 16, the event aims to spotlight dual-use technologies that bridge the gap between commercial innovation and national security requirements.

The upcoming event, which draws nearly 10,000 attendees and 250 exhibitors, seeks to cement Pittsburgh’s status as a global hub for physical AI. By integrating the Defense Pavilion, organizers intend to showcase how autonomous systems and robotics are moving beyond software into tangible applications for manufacturing, logistics, and public safety. Jenn Apicella, executive director of the Pittsburgh Robotics Network, noted that the collaboration with the Pittsburgh Technology Council significantly scales the event’s reach, highlighting the momentum of the regional innovation ecosystem.

Audrey Russo, president and CEO of the Pittsburgh Technology Council, emphasized that the region possesses unique capabilities in autonomy and advanced manufacturing that are vital to national competitiveness. Beyond the new pavilion, the gathering will host live demonstrations, career networking sessions, and expert panels designed to connect startups with investors. With support from Visit Pittsburgh, the event serves as both a technical showcase and a regional promotion, emphasizing the deep-tech cluster that includes over 320 robotics and AI companies.
