The survey of 2,004 U.S. workers highlights a stark reality: 66% of Boomers are mystified by "rizz," and 61% struggle with "no cap." According to occupational psychologist Dr. Iain Smith, the head of behavioral science at Sunny Workplace, what often appears as an attitude problem is frequently just a failure of translation. The new tool, WorkGen Translate, allows employees to paste messages into an interface that converts slang into standard workplace dialect, turning a phrase like "this meeting was mid" into "this meeting was unremarkable."
However, the confusion is not one-sided. Gen Z workers are equally baffled by corporate jargon, with 53% admitting they do not understand the phrase "boil the ocean." Furthermore, the research reveals that younger workers are now facing their own obsolescence, as 75% of Gen Z employees struggle to define Gen Alpha terms like "skibidi." With poor communication costs estimated at $1.2 trillion annually, Sunny Workplace frames this tool as a lighthearted intervention, though it underscores a broader trend of declining engagement in increasingly siloed, multigenerational teams.
