Whoopi Goldberg and Jenifer Lewis Reunite for Netflix Comedy

The film follows a recently widowed woman who travels to the Hamptons with her sister and best friends to mark what would have been her 30th wedding anniversary. Directed by Tasha Smith, the story serves as a meditation on grief and long-standing sisterhood. For Goldberg and Lewis, the feature provides their first on-screen collaboration since the 1999 television comedy Jackie’s Back!, adding to a shared history that includes roles in Sister Act and Corrina, Corrina. Similarly, Williams and Fox are set to work together for the first time since the 1997 drama Soul Food.

Beyond the scripted comedy, Goldberg is currently the subject of an upcoming feature-length documentary directed by Geeta Gandbhir. This project will offer an intimate look at her career, tracing her rise from her 1984 Broadway debut to her current life, including her efforts to balance professional projects with family and her time in Italy. Goldberg, who has co-hosted The View for nearly two decades, noted that the documentary serves to challenge the misconception that she is a one-dimensional figure, emphasizing that her life and perspectives are multifaceted.
