The Luna Ti system, developed in Carlsbad, California, features a low-profile 7 mm insertion height designed for minimally invasive procedures. By combining a large-footprint design with a titanium-coated surface, the device intends to restore disc height and sagittal alignment while minimizing the risk of subsidence. The company engineered the implant to function alongside its existing Orbit discectomy platform, creating a streamlined workflow for disc preparation and delivery.
CEO Ron Lloyd noted that the expansion into titanium-integrated surfaces responds to the rising volume of TLIF procedures, particularly within ambulatory surgical centers. Neurosurgeon Dr. Ernest Braxton, an early user of the platform, highlighted that the device simplifies complex cases by allowing for better alignment restoration, potentially reducing the need for more invasive anterior approaches. Dr. Ryan Johnson, who plans to present clinical insights on the technology at the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery Meeting in Las Vegas this September, cited the benefit of maintaining PEEK's radiographic advantages while enhancing the fusion interface.
