BAUHAUS Automates Krefeld Logistics with XYZ Robotics

The system utilizes RockyOne robots to enter shipping containers and extract loose cartons of varying sizes and weights—a task previously considered too complex for traditional automation. Once unloaded, a barcode scanning system identifies each item, allowing the RockyOne SE units to build stable, storage-ready pallets based on specific requirements. This end-to-end workflow operates continuously, shifting warehouse staff from physical labor to system supervision via tablet interfaces.

Torsten Winter, Vice President of Operations for BAHAG / BAUHAUS AG, noted that the system has maintained reliable performance since its activation. The move addresses long-standing challenges in warehouse safety and staff turnover, as workers are freed from the physically demanding conditions of unloading in confined, temperature-controlled spaces. Given the initial success, BAUHAUS is currently evaluating the deployment of this technology across its wider European network of more than 290 specialty centers.
