Cordant, founded in 2010, carved out a distinct niche in the Portland market by navigating the intricacies of restricted stock units, employee stock purchase plans, and deferred compensation strategies for tech sector employees. By absorbing the firm, Cerity gains a foothold in a region with a high concentration of high-net-worth individuals tied to the tech economy.
Claire O’Keefe, Head of Partner Development at Cerity, cited Cordant’s fiduciary-first culture and technical expertise as the primary drivers for the union. For Cordant’s leadership, including CEO Isaac Presley and founder William Anfuso, the merger serves as a scaling mechanism, providing their existing client base with a deeper bench of tax, retirement, and investment resources. ECHELON Partners acted as the financial advisor for the transaction, with legal counsel provided by Katz Teller.
