Renewal by Anderson Faces California Class Action Over Labor Violations

A class action lawsuit filed in San Diego Superior Court alleges that door and window manufacturer Renewal by Anderson LLC systematically denied employees legally mandated meal and rest periods. The complaint, brought by Blumenthal Nordrehaug Bhowmik De Blouw LLP, claims the company routinely required staff to work through breaks.

The litigation, case number 26CU027638C, outlines a pattern of labor code violations occurring across the defendant's operations. Beyond the failure to provide breaks, the suit alleges the company engaged in wage theft by failing to pay proper overtime and minimum wages, while also neglecting to reimburse staff for mandatory work-related expenses. Plaintiffs further contend that the company issued inaccurate itemized wage statements and withheld due sick pay.

According to the court filing, the company allegedly manipulated timekeeping records by rounding meal periods to circumvent penalty payments. Employees were frequently tasked with shifts exceeding five hours without the required off-duty intervals. The lawsuit invokes a broad spectrum of California Labor Code sections, including 201-203, 226, and 510, seeking civil penalties for the firm’s conduct. The legal team representing the class is currently soliciting further claims from workers impacted by these practices.
