The new units expand upon the company’s existing R2 and R3 residential lines, which have already seen deployment across more than 20 countries. The residential R5 model focuses on modular scalability and active balancing, while the commercial-grade I3 targets larger solar-plus-storage and backup power projects. Both rely on the company’s proprietary NFPP-based platform.
BIWATT CEO Owen stated that the company’s growth strategy centers on deep involvement in cell-level innovation rather than simple chemistry selection. To support this global push, the firm is currently advancing UL1973 certification and UL9540A testing, aiming to align its sodium-ion technology with stringent safety benchmarks. The company manages a full ecosystem including in-house battery management systems, cloud platforms, and specialized inverters, positioning itself as a vertically integrated player in the green power sector.
