The new R5 and I3 models leverage a shared technology platform, emphasizing modular scalability and active balancing. The residential-focused R5 is designed for home energy management, while the PowerLake I3 targets commercial and industrial projects, including solar-plus-storage and backup power requirements. These units follow the successful international rollout of the company's previous R2 and R3 rack-mounted systems.
To ensure market viability and safety, BIWATT is currently advancing UL1973 certification and UL9540A testing for these products. CEO Owen noted that the company’s focus remains on deep cell-level innovation, arguing that energy storage effectiveness relies on chemistry engineered specifically for the application rather than generic off-the-shelf components. Currently, BIWATT’s sodium-ion systems are operational in more than 20 countries, with a significant presence across Europe.
