Consumer Cellular Launches SpeakEasy for Users Over 75

Three in five Americans over 50 report that modern technology ignores their needs, a disconnect that widens significantly for the 75-plus demographic. To bridge this gap, Scottsdale-based Consumer Cellular is introducing SpeakEasy, a standalone wireless brand engineered specifically to strip away the complexity of modern smartphones and mobile plans.

The new venture marks a strategic shift for the provider, which currently counts 4 million subscribers. According to Chairman and CEO Ed Evans, SpeakEasy is not a trimmed-down mainstream offering, but a platform built from the ground up to match the communication habits of older adults. The brand launches with two hardware options: a durable flip phone priced at $79.95 featuring large, tactile buttons, and a $99.95 smartphone running a simplified, high-contrast interface.

Service plans begin at $14.95 per month, with all packages including nationwide coverage and access to the company’s U.S.-based support team. Consumers can purchase devices or sign up for service at 99 retail locations across 33 states or via the company's dedicated website. As an introductory incentive, the company is offering two months of free service and complimentary shipping on all activations completed before December 31, 2026.
