The award was presented at the AGTA Annual Conference in Nashville, where peers celebrated McCarthy’s career spanning from 1973 to 2026. During his tenure, he evolved airport transit from localized services into a unified, professional sector. AGTA President John Groden noted that McCarthy’s leadership was instrumental in helping operators balance modern traveler expectations with rigorous safety standards.
McCarthy’s influence is most visible in the scale of The GO Group, which he helped build into a worldwide brand serving over 85 locations. His career path includes long-term service as CEO of Continental Air Transport Company and a foundational role in the creation of the GO Airport Shuttle network in 2007. Reflecting on the honor, McCarthy attributed the industry’s evolution to the collective efforts of the colleagues and partners who navigated the sector’s modernization alongside him.
