Destinus Hits Milestone of 1,000 Turbojet Engines in Europe

The production of the 1,000th T150 turbojet engine at the Hengelo facility marks a shift for European defense, moving beyond prototype manufacturing into industrial-scale output. This milestone, reached in June 2026, secures a critical supply chain component for the company's expanding Ruta cruise missile fleet.

Propulsion has long served as a primary bottleneck for cruise missile production across Europe. By developing the T150 from scratch, Destinus aims to bypass external supply constraints, utilizing a vertically integrated model that covers design, tooling, and quality control. According to Sidney Berndt, the company's Chief Manufacturing Officer, this facility is no longer experimental but a sustained system capable of supporting thousands of missile units annually.

This industrial ramp-up directly supports current Ruta B1 and B2 deployment while preparing for future systems. The company recently unveiled the Ruta B3, a long-range platform with a 2,000 km reach, which will utilize the next-generation T220 engine. Through the Rheinmetall Destinus Strike Systems joint venture, the company is positioning these in-house propulsion capabilities as a cornerstone for European sovereign military production.
