The winning cohort, which includes major systems like the School District of Philadelphia and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, will receive comprehensive support packages. These include sensor hardware, expert implementation guidance, and digital dashboards designed to help administrators identify building inefficiencies that often impact student health and academic focus. Dr. Serene Almomen, CEO of Attune, noted that the program seeks to prove how data-driven visibility can fundamentally improve the conditions within aging school infrastructure.
Selection was managed in collaboration with industry experts, including the Center for Green Schools and the International WELL Building Institute. Applicants were vetted based on their demonstrated need and their readiness to integrate smart technology into daily operations. Mary Filardo of the 21st Century School Fund emphasized that moving toward data-informed management represents a critical shift for districts that have historically struggled with limited budgets and undetected environmental risks. The full list of recipients spans from Michigan and Minnesota to California and Kentucky, establishing a national network of schools committed to benchmarking their environmental performance.
