Maverick Corporation to Lead NYC Curbside EV Charging Expansion

The initiative follows a contract awarded to the charging provider it’s electric by the New York City Department of Transportation and the New York Power Authority. Maverick will oversee the engineering, installation, and utility coordination required to replace existing pilot infrastructure and expand access in neighborhoods with high concentrations of Taxi and Limousine Commission drivers. This rollout is a key component of the city’s Green Rides Initiative, which mandates that all licensed Uber and Lyft trips be electric or accessible by 2030.

Maverick, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, previously partnered with it’s electric on a similar curbside program in Boston in 2025. According to it’s electric CEO Nathan King, that track record was decisive in securing the New York contract, as the scale of the project requires complex coordination with local utility providers and municipal agencies. NYC DOT Commissioner Mike Flynn noted that the expansion is specifically targeted at underserved areas where residents lack off-street parking, aiming to make the shift to electric vehicles viable for a broader population of drivers.
