Relay Launches Second Season of 'Becoming Self Made' Podcast

As U.S. entrepreneurship hits record highs with 5.9 million new business filings in 2025, the banking platform Relay is doubling down on its video podcast, 'Becoming Self Made.' Hosted by author Mike Michalowicz, the series pivots from corporate polish to the unfiltered, often messy realities of building a sustainable brand.

The second season moves beyond traditional success narratives, focusing on the 'Life Line' segment where guests recount the specific setbacks and pivots that defined their paths. Michalowicz aims to strip away the veneer of overnight success, addressing cash flow crises and failed bets that founders rarely discuss. The lineup features a diverse mix of Main Street and creative industry leaders, including financial educator Tiffany Aliche, restaurateur Andrew Ahn of Boo's Philly Cheesesteaks, and Jamie Deering of Deering Banjos. Other guests range from choreographer Tim Milgram to Beekman 1802 co-founder Dr. Brent Ridge and designer David Stark. According to Bethany Cantor, Relay’s Director of Brand and the show’s executive producer, the project serves as a tribute to founders who prioritize community and passion over conventional scaling models. This shift comes as the U.S. Census Bureau reports an 8% year-over-year increase in new business formations, signaling a structural change in how Americans approach economic independence. Episodes premiere weekly on Tuesdays at 6 a.m. ET, starting June 23.
