Viridi and Budderfly Partner to Deploy 100 Commercial Battery Sites

Viridi and energy-as-a-service provider Budderfly have launched a nationwide initiative to install commercial battery energy storage systems across 100 sites in the United States. The partnership aims to modernize aging infrastructure for retail and manufacturing clients, providing grid resiliency without requiring upfront capital investment from businesses.

The collaboration integrates Viridi’s RPSLinkEX battery systems into Budderfly’s energy management platform. By managing demand and supporting grid flexibility, these systems address the growing constraints faced by commercial facilities such as restaurants and fitness centers. The initiative marks a significant expansion of Budderfly’s long-term strategy, which targets eventual deployment across thousands of locations.

Initial installations are already underway in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and California. A recent project at the Shelton, Connecticut headquarters of OEM Controls serves as a flagship for the rollout, following earlier deployments at Dunkin’ and 99 Restaurants locations. Budderfly CEO Al Subbloie noted that the move is essential for businesses navigating rising electricity demand, while Viridi CEO Jon M. Williams emphasized that the partnership prioritizes safety through fail-safe technology designed for integration within occupied buildings.
