The Bahia project leverages Honeywell’s modular delivery model, which is designed to bypass the lengthy construction timelines associated with traditional refinery builds. By integrating specialized pumps, compressors, and the Experion PKS control platform, Acelen plans to optimize production efficiency while minimizing project risks. This facility is positioned to become one of the world's largest renewable fuel hubs, directly addressing the projected need for 500,000 barrels of sustainable aviation fuel per day over the coming decade.
Marcelo Cordaro, COO of Acelen Renewables, emphasized that the initiative serves as a cornerstone for Brazil’s sustainable economy, balancing environmental biodiversity with industrial output. The Ecofining process, initially developed with Eni SpA, is capable of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional jet fuel. Honeywell executives noted that the integration of digital operating insights and novel feedstocks is essential to lowering the cost of adoption for renewable energy, providing a scalable blueprint for future industrial transitions.
