The selection process drew 250 applicants who submitted conceptual artwork and portfolios. The chosen cohort will install their work in six prominent zones, including the Royal Promenade, the Suite Sundeck, and guest boarding areas. These installations will move beyond standard murals to include mixed-media works like ceramic mosaics and stainless-steel sculptures.
The featured creators bring diverse perspectives to the ship's design. Giovanni Abath from Curacao and Rodrigo Macias Maldonado from Mexico are slated to install large-scale pieces in the Royal Promenade, while Vanessa Dalla Costa of Trinidad and Tobago will contribute a mosaic to the Suite Sundeck. Other contributors include Porschia Denning from the U.S. Virgin Islands, Rafeal Vega Feliciano from Puerto Rico, and Alexander Lopez Ryliouk from Costa Rica, whose work will welcome guests at the embarkation point.
This project marks a shift for the program, which previously focused primarily on the Caribbean but now incorporates broader Latin American influence. Jay Schneider, chief product innovation officer at Royal Caribbean, noted that the goal is to create a cohesive narrative between the ship's onboard environment and the destinations it visits. Legend of the Seas is scheduled to begin 7-night Western Mediterranean sailings from Barcelona and Rome this July, before transitioning to Caribbean itineraries departing from Fort Lauderdale in November 2026.
