Missouri American Water Awards $40,000 to Local Nonprofits

The grant package splits into two primary focus areas. Approximately $13,000 is earmarked for the Hydration Station Grant Program, which funds public water units designed to reduce plastic waste and improve access to clean drinking water. Five organizations, including Lydia’s House, the Lawson Community Foundation, the Mexico Area Family YMCA, Circle of Concern Food Pantry, and JADASA, will utilize these funds to install new equipment.

A further $27,000 supports seven additional groups working on social and health initiatives. Beneficiaries include Habitat for Humanity of St. Charles County, Family Care Health Centers, and the Truman Medical Center Charitable Foundation, among others. These awards fall under the broader 2026 Keep Communities Flowing program, which emphasizes water safety, human services, and community development.

Rich Svindland, President of Missouri American Water, noted that these investments are intended to drive meaningful local solutions. The American Water Charitable Foundation, which has contributed over $25 million to such initiatives since 2012, funds these grants through shareholder contributions rather than customer rates.
