The latest data from Dell'Oro Group reveals that SASE is evolving from a simple access tool into a critical governance layer. As organizations integrate AI, they are prioritizing data protection and strict policy controls over automated agents. This shift is fueling demand across both Security Service Edge (SSE) and SD-WAN components, rather than favoring one over the other. Mauricio Sanchez, senior director at Dell'Oro Group, noted that SASE is actively absorbing the security requirements created by current AI adoption rather than waiting for a distant refresh cycle.
Market dynamics show a clear divergence in hardware and software spending. While SSE revenue surged 22 percent, legacy access router sales dropped 10 percent as companies pivot toward secure branch platforms. Industry leaders including Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Cato Networks, and Versa Networks currently hold the most balanced positions in the sector, leveraging both networking and security capabilities to capture enterprise budgets. With SSE-first deployments remaining the primary entry point for businesses, the market is positioned to maintain double-digit growth throughout the remainder of the year.
