Amazon Announces $10 Billion Data Center Campus in Missouri

A massive $10 billion investment in Montgomery County, Missouri, will see Amazon construct a state-of-the-art data center campus. The project, aimed at bolstering regional cloud infrastructure, promises to bring hundreds of full-time positions and thousands of construction jobs while funneling millions into local community services.

State officials and company executives confirmed the development, which is projected to generate hundreds of millions in property tax revenue over the next quarter-century. Governor Mike Kehoe characterized the deal as a vital infusion for the region’s public services and infrastructure, underscoring the state’s appeal to large-scale technology operations. Amazon currently employs over 10,000 Missourians, and this expansion aims to deepen that footprint through long-term operational growth.

Beyond the facility itself, Amazon has pledged over $7 million in community contributions. This includes $3 million for local emergency dispatch services, $1 million for a community space at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, and a new $150,000 grant fund. Infrastructure costs are being handled directly by the tech giant, which has agreed to cover 100% of the expenses for connecting to the Ameren Missouri energy grid without seeking rate discounts or public incentives. The project also incorporates sustainability efforts, including a partnership with Arable Labs intended to reduce regional groundwater consumption by 100 million gallons through improved irrigation technology.
