Schneider Electric Gains NEMA Domestic Certification for 20 US Plants

Schneider Electric has become the first manufacturer to secure NEMA Make it American certification across more than 20 of its domestic facilities. This move, part of a $700 million investment strategy, confirms the company’s ability to meet strict federal Build America, Buy America requirements for infrastructure projects.

The certification process, governed by the NEMA 70901-2024 standard, began last year at the company’s Fairfield, Ohio, site. Following successful independent audits this year, the facilities have been added to the NEMA Make it American BABA Registry. These sites produce essential electrical hardware, including medium-voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, and motor control centers, across states ranging from California and Texas to Massachusetts and North Carolina.

This domestic footprint is central to the company’s efforts to address surging electricity demand driven by AI data centers and industrial electrification. According to Mourad Tamoud, Chief Supply Chain Officer, the certification aligns with a broader regionalization strategy aimed at strengthening domestic manufacturing. Kelly Becker, President of North America Operations, added that these capabilities position the company to support infrastructure growth while marking its 190th year of operations. As part of this leadership expansion, Becker has also joined the NEMA Board of Directors to help guide industry policy and workforce development.
