A Manhattan traffic accident has pulled Ryan Reynolds into a new legal dispute, with two passengers seeking $5 million in damages following a collision involving a Tesla registered to the actor’s property firm. The incident, occurring in March 2024, has now consolidated into a single case within the New York Supreme Court.
The collision took place in TriBeCa on March 2, 2024, involving a Tesla owned by 2382 Walker Holdings LLC—a company Reynolds established in 2012 for real estate investments—and an Access-A-Ride van. While the actor was not present, court documents allege his employee was driving the vehicle when it abruptly changed lanes and stopped, leading to a rear-end collision with the van.Plaintiffs Kawanna Coleman and Taji Kelly claim they sustained permanent injuries to their heads, bodies, and nervous systems. In response, legal counsel for the defense, the firm Wade Clark Mulcahy, has argued that the plaintiffs failed to wear seatbelts, which they contend exacerbated the reported injuries. The litigation has grown in complexity as the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and New York Transit Authority, initially named as defendants, are moving to exit the case, asserting no connection to the vehicles involved.
A status conference is set for September 10. This filing follows a recent period of intense legal scrutiny for the Reynolds family, including a separate, high-profile dispute involving Blake Lively and actor Justin Baldoni that concluded without a trial.
