With the population of Gilbert surpassing 275,000 and a high density of families raising children, access to primary care has become a critical bottleneck. To address this, MY DR NOW is opening its fifth local clinic on June 16, offering walk-in availability and extended hours to a community struggling with long wait times.
Located in the Desert Lane Crossing shopping center at 1295 N. Arizona Ave., the new facility arrives as Arizona faces a severe deficit in primary care infrastructure. According to the University of Arizona Center for Rural Health, the state currently meets only 35.4% of its primary care needs, ranking 42nd nationwide in physicians per capita. The Association of American Medical Colleges projects that Arizona will require nearly 2,000 additional primary care doctors by 2030 to keep pace with demand.Dr. Payam Zamani, founder and CEO of MY DR NOW, notes that the local shortage is particularly felt by families. While national wait times for new-patient appointments have climbed to over 23 days, the firm’s model relies on same-day accessibility. The new Gilbert location will provide pediatrics, women’s health, and chronic disease management seven days a week, operating from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and until 4 p.m. on weekends. This opening marks the 78th location for the provider, which aims to become the largest independently owned primary care group in the country by late 2027.
