McSweeney, who appeared on two seasons of The Real Housewives of New York City and one season of Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, had accused producers of weaponizing her history of addiction for entertainment value. Her complaint alleged that staff actively encouraged her to drink, mocked her mental health struggles, and orchestrated attacks from fellow cast members to manufacture conflict. She further claimed that production blocked her from attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings during filming, despite prior assurances of support.
The case had gained momentum in November 2024 when Judge Lewis Liman allowed key claims regarding harmful production methods to proceed, rejecting Bravo’s attempts to move the dispute into private arbitration. While the lawsuit included a contentious accusation that Cohen used cocaine with cast members—a claim Cohen vehemently denied as a "shakedown"—the settlement ensures these allegations will never be tested in court. Attorney Gary Adelman stated that his client is pleased with the outcome, though the financial terms and specific conditions of the agreement remain undisclosed.
