Egglesfield’s commitment to the 26.2-mile race serves as both a personal milestone and a tribute to his late parents, both of whom died of cancer. Training for the event proved difficult while balancing a demanding film schedule, yet the actor maintained a rigorous running routine. He views the act of running as a meditative practice that helps him regain clarity, a habit he adopted years ago at his sister’s suggestion.
His medical history includes diagnoses of testicular cancer in 2006 and a subsequent battle with prostate cancer. Reflecting on his initial diagnosis, Egglesfield admits he ignored early symptoms until his brother intervened. That experience shaped his current mission: ensuring others know they do not have to face a health crisis in isolation. Beyond his advocacy, the actor is expanding his career into film production and recently authored the book Agile Artist, which chronicles his path through Hollywood and his personal health struggles. He is currently nearing his $10,000 fundraising goal for the Cancer Support Community.
