The movie’s marketing team leaned into the pop-culture fallout, displaying a graphic of the character Chuck alongside the infamous mechanical bird, Molly. The image features a scribbled-out $15,000 price tag, replacing it with the cheeky tagline: “one bird for the price of a movie ticket.” The stunt arrives ahead of the film’s December 23 release, which features returning stars Jason Sudeikis, Danny McBride, and Josh Gad.
Fans have flooded X with requests for the studio to cast Clarkson in a cameo, with many praising the studio’s decision to capitalize on the controversy. The original dispute began when Clarkson publicly criticized the Brooklyn shop Art of Play for refusing to sell her the mechanical fixture, a move that prompted store owner Adam Rubin to inflate the bird’s price to $15 million in a jab at the singer’s public complaints. While Rubin has since invited Clarkson back to the store—provided she acknowledges her behavior—the singer has remained silent on the matter, choosing instead to focus on her recent headlining performance at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
