Todd and Julie Chrisley Face $1.5M Tax Lien Following Presidential Pardon

Former reality television stars Todd and Julie Chrisley are grappling with a significant new financial hurdle. Records from Davidson County, Tennessee, reveal the Internal Revenue Service filed a federal tax lien against the couple totaling $1,571,452, just over a year after they received presidential pardons for their past fraud convictions.

The lien, filed on August 19, 2026, stems from two separate tax assessments: $142,410 for the 2021 tax year and $1,429,041 for 2022. These debts follow the couple's 2022 conviction for conspiring to defraud banks and evade federal taxes, charges that originally carried multi-year prison sentences before President Donald Trump intervened in May 2025 to grant them pardons.

Beyond their tax obligations, the couple remains embroiled in a separate $25 million lawsuit against their former defense attorney, Chris Anulewicz, and his law firm, Balch & Bingham. The Chrisleys allege legal malpractice, claiming Anulewicz failed to properly challenge evidence during their original trial. While the couple has attempted to pivot toward a "lighter" post-prison life—including relaunching their podcast and making a television appearance on The Masked Singer—their return to the spotlight has drawn sharp criticism from viewers questioning the appropriateness of their continued media presence.
