The event, held from October 9–11, featured over 80 sessions focused on the intersection of immunology, cell therapy, and emerging digital technologies. Dr. Thomas Danne, the organization's Chief Medical Officer, noted that the primary objective was to ensure scientific findings directly inform clinical practices. Discussions ranged from the application of AI and digital twins in diabetes management to the complexities of disease-modifying immunotherapies.
Leadership emphasized that the congress was designed to accelerate the path toward cures by identifying and removing systemic barriers to innovation. Dr. Anastasia Albanese-O'Neill highlighted the necessity of focusing on post-discovery integration, ensuring that medical breakthroughs are both accessible and effective within real-world clinical environments. Following the success of the Philadelphia launch, Breakthrough T1D confirmed that the second annual congress is scheduled for October 15–17, 2027, in Washington, D.C., where the organization plans to sustain the momentum generated by this year's cross-disciplinary exchange.
