FICO Faces Investor Scrutiny After Mortgage Pricing Shift

Fair Isaac Corporation shares plummeted over 20% following a Federal Housing Finance Agency decision to overhaul mortgage pricing grids. The sharp market reaction has triggered an investigation by litigation firm Levi & Korsinsky into whether company leadership misled shareholders regarding the competitive and regulatory risks facing its core mortgage scoring business.

The volatility erupted after the FHFA announced plans to integrate VantageScore into the existing pricing structure for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. This regulatory pivot directly challenges FICO’s market dominance, contradicting reassurances provided by CEO William J. Lansing during an earnings call on April 28, 2026. At that time, Lansing explicitly stated he anticipated no loss of volume to competitors and saw no compelling reason for lenders to migrate away from FICO’s scoring models.

By midday on September 29, 2026, the stock had shed more than 25% of its value from the previous day's close. The investigation, spearheaded by the firm operating under the brand SueWallSt, aims to determine if management failed to provide adequate disclosure concerning the vulnerability of the firm's mortgage division. Investors who sustained losses are currently being evaluated for potential recovery claims, with the firm examining the accuracy of statements made by FICO executives regarding the company's competitive moat.
