Dr. Patsy McNeil Departs Adventist HealthCare for Riverside Health

Joining the organization in 2018 as chief medical officer for Shady Grove Medical Center, McNeil rose through the executive ranks to oversee enterprise-wide clinical operations and safety initiatives. Her tenure was marked by a financial and operational turnaround, including a $16.8 million shift in the Maryland Quality Program performance and a nearly 20% reduction in medical staff turnover.

Under her guidance, the system achieved a rare distinction in Spring 2026 as the only network in Maryland to earn Leapfrog “A” safety grades across all hospitals. CEO John Sackett credited her leadership for strengthening physician partnerships and elevating patient care standards during a period of significant strategic transformation. Before her departure, McNeil managed the system’s clinical response to the pandemic, maintaining inpatient mortality rates significantly below the national average.
