ANREALAGE and E Ink Debut Color-Shifting 'SKIN' Collection in Paris

Designer Kunihiko Morinaga, known for his experimental approach to form, integrated E Ink Prism 3 technology into the Spring/Summer 2027 collection. Each dress utilizes between 1,000 and 2,000 reflective tiles arranged in a scale-like pattern. Because the material relies on ambient light rather than backlighting, the garments hold their pattern without constant power, consuming energy only during the transition between states. This design choice highlights a shift toward sustainable fashion where a single piece can project multiple aesthetic identities.

Naoki Sumita, President of E Ink Japan, noted that the collaboration mirrors the firm’s broader goal of turning static surfaces into expressive, interactive interfaces. Following the runway debut, the collection moves to the "JUST AN REAL AGE" exhibition at 76 Rue de Turenne in Paris, running from October 2 to 5. The technology will see further public demonstrations at COMPUTEX 2027 and InfoComm 2027, signaling a push to integrate programmable materials beyond traditional digital signage.
