Corporate card usage continues to climb, with purchase volume in the U.S. reaching $2.23 trillion in 2024. As enterprises move more spending onto virtual, fleet, and lodge cards to capture rebates and streamline payments, the administrative burden of reconciling transactions and enforcing policy has grown proportionally. AppZen’s new offering functions as an agent-first layer that connects to current banking systems, allowing companies to retain existing issuers while offloading repetitive tasks to AI.
According to CEO Anant Kale, the platform moves beyond traditional rules-based controls by utilizing agents that continuously monitor transactions, retrieve missing documentation, and resolve exceptions autonomously. Instead of finance teams manually chasing receipts or coding individual line items, the system aggregates supporting documents and transaction history, presenting human reviewers only with cases that require judgment. The technology is scheduled for general availability on October 26, promising to decouple card program expansion from administrative overhead.
