Solstice Advanced Materials Reaches Settlement in Metropolis Litigation

The settlement, which remains subject to formal documentation and court approval, aims to resolve class-action claims and individual lawsuits alleging property damage and personal injury. While the company denies all allegations of wrongdoing and maintains that it holds strong legal defenses, leadership opted to settle to avoid the ongoing financial burden and uncertainty of protracted litigation. The agreement includes specific investments in public health programs for the Metropolis community, developed alongside the plaintiffs.

Plaintiffs' counsel Richard Kruger and Kevin Thompson characterized the deal as a historic step for the region, noting that the funds are specifically designed to bolster local health measures. For Solstice, the resolution allows the company to refocus on its operations at the Metropolis facility, which serves as the only uranium conversion plant in the United States and remains a vital link in the national nuclear fuel supply chain. The company stated that it does not anticipate the settlement will have a material impact on its overall financial performance.
