The tool, developed alongside technology partner Saritasa, functions by scanning a QR code found on the packaging. Once the camera is pointed at the vehicle's wiper arm, the AI recognizes the hardware and displays a tailored, step-by-step walkthrough. This eliminates the need for manual searches through generic videos or trial-and-error assembly, targeting a common point of friction in routine vehicle maintenance.
"Installing wiper blades shouldn't require a mechanic's knowledge or a frustrating trial-and-error process," said Soroor Rahnama, Head of Marketing at Rain-X. The platform currently supports 220 million vehicle applications, covering 93% of cars on the road. After an initial rollout in late August, the system will be available across all Rain-X programs by the end of this year. The company plans to expand the app's functionality before 2027 to include a complete removal and installation walkthrough.
