Measles remains a significant public health concern due to its rapid transmission through respiratory droplets. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the virus is so contagious that nine out of ten unprotected individuals exposed to an infected person will contract the disease. Symptoms often include high fever, cough, and a distinctive rash, with the virus capable of spreading up to four days before clinical signs become visible.

While the vaccine is most effective as a preventive measure, it can offer some protection if administered within 72 hours of exposure. CVS Pharmacy and MinuteClinic locations are currently equipped to provide doses for patients aged three and older. Although walk-ins are permitted, the company recommends scheduling appointments via the CVS website or mobile app to guarantee supply. Officials note that individuals born before 1957 or those who have already received two documented doses are generally considered immune, though specific groups like international travelers or health care workers may require boosters.
